Simple Ways To Save Money

Saving money, like anything, just takes a few simple steps to get started

While there may be many simple ways to save money, and some unique to your financial situation, none are very hard to do! You just have to make a conscious effort. Here are some recommended ways to get the ball rolling:

  • Shop around for the best rates on everything ... this includes your mortgage, insurance, petrol, etc.
  • Nix bought lunches and premade snacks, make it at home and pack it
  • Love Starbucks? Buy their packets, brew it and flask it
  • Walk or cycle, and park the car, it's healthier for you too.
  • Cut down on paid entertainment, look for free things to do instead like picnics, going to the park, museums, library, etc.

Dealing with Creditors

Yes, even making arrangements with your creditors can help you save money. Negotiate for better interest rates and your payments will be lowered. With a good credit rating this is certainly a possibility.

Whichever way you want to go ... make goals!

When you set goals to reduce your spending by a fixed amount or percentage over what you spent before, you will feel a true sense of accomplishment when you reach that goal. It doesn't matter if it takes you 3 months, or a year or more, even long term goals can be broken down into baby steps. This not only makes it easier to track, but you get that "I did it!" high more often. ;)

So take a few moments now to think about how you can save more money, cut expenses, negotiate better interest rates, etc. and you are well on your way to weathering the current economic crisis in great fashion!
